A visionary industry veteran with more than three decades of experience across Government & Private Sector. Mr Rohit Modi is the CEO at Essel Infra and Smart Utilities. He is credited with spearheading businesses in both the private and public sector in transportation, construction and engineering fields. As the CEO of Essel Infra and Smart Utilities, Mr Modi plays a key role in driving the growth of the company in India across its core verticals- Transport, Power Transmission and Distribution, Urban Infrastructure, Environment, Renewable Energy and Integrated Utilities (Power, Water & City Gas Distribution, Solid Waste Management).
Mr Modi has been instrumental in adding value to the company and its stakeholders through his sharp business acumen and ability to convert challenges into opportunities. With a focus on driving business growth in India, he has succeeded in exploring key emerging markets in the country.
During his 14 years as an IAS Officer, he worked in various Departments/Districts in the State of Manipur, as also in Government of India. While in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Rohit was the Nodal Officer for IMF & IFC. He handled World Bank & ADB projects across Infrastructure, Industry & Finance, Coal (Including Co-financing by JEXIM), Urban Development, Textiles & Fertilizer.
For the last 18 years in the Private Sector, Rohit has been working with Infrastructure, Renewable & EPC Companies, handling Operations - both within India & Abroad.
His responsibilities have included being the CEO, TNRDC (Tamil Nadu Road Development Company Ltd), RIDCOR (Road Infrastructure Development Company of Rajasthan Ltd), Mahindra Industrial Park Ltd (now Mahindra World City), Roads & Airports Development Business of L&T apart from being the Deputy Managing Director of Gammon India Ltd. He also spent 6 years with Suzlon India Ltd including as CEO/India Business, CEO/International Operations & CEO/Solar Business.
